A Race To Success took place on June 19, 2014 in Irvine, CA.
Elance partnered with Southern California's fastest growing angel investor organization, Private Capital Network (PCN), UPS and SendGrid to bring a fast-paced and fun-filled A Race To Success.
It's where ten lucky startups were invited to K1 Speed, where they raced go-karts alongside prominent angel investors and reps from OC incubators, accelerators & co-working spaces. The winning startup got to pitch to influential PCN members, win $1000 of Elance credits and ultimate bragging rights!
I connected Google Analytics to different social media pages to do some A/B Testing and better understand which platforms drive more traffic and where it is coming from. Some interesting add-ons include SEO, SEM, Adwords and it's affect on search.
Information here can be ordered and categorized through data flows and later visualized. I often like to start breaking problems down through a brainstorm followed by mapping. This data can later be imported into IBM's SAS / SPSS software and coded in R to provide meaningful business analytical visuals for to better understand value at a glimpse.
In 2014 we independently produced the first OC Hackerz #OpenHack Hardware Hackathon. We engaged the community in collaborative team building exercises, learned about new hardware technologies, brainstormed ideas through pitches and used Agile/Scrum principles to work within teams. This is a StopMotion Animated video produced using the Vine App. We dissected an orange and paper logo cutouts into multiple layers and took short video clips animating them through a sequence to create a short video to create awareness through the vine social media community.
With everything going mobile, I decided to research platforms, devices, technologies, architectures and start my own mobile app design agency. Excited to polish up on some of my Photoshop design skills. I had fun creating the WirelessApps brand, logo, branding and threw a QR code in to make it interactive whilst doing some user research.
I also enjoyed designing the OC Hackerz logo and experimenting with different copywriting approaches to simplify awareness.
In 2014, My friends and I at RVSherpa hosted an RV camping experience during SXSW to connect festival goers, musicians and artists unable to find accommodation. We barbecued, shared stories and a seven year old girl sang one of her favorite songs.
This is Startupbus SF 2014. 8 buses from Mexico, South, Mid West, West Coast, South East, North, North East, America travel 3,000km to build a startup on a bus and launch in San Antonio, TX. Special thanks to my company Elance who sponsored my seat on the bus. I added so many respected entrepreneurs to my network including Robert Scoble, Guy Kawasaki and others.
