Austin Makerfaire 2017
The event is full of invention, creativity, education, and entertainment that will even make adults feel like kids again. This year will feature power tool drag racing, a Maker Fashion Show, huge art, craft, technology and robotics zones, and much more. Now in it’s sixth year, this show and tell event will showcase creative makers’ talent in originality, invention, and resourcefulness.
“After our successful previous Maker Faires, we are very excited to host an event with even more Makers, attendees, and hands-on Maker experiences than ever before,” says Maker Faire Austin Producer Kami Wilt. “Makers come from all over Central Texas and beyond to show off amazing things they’ve built, share their skills, and provide meaningful hands-on learning experiences.”
In past years, attendees saw amazing performances and stunning attractions such as Draka[1] , the 100-foot-long dragon art car built on a Ford Econoline van; Boneshaker Big Wheel, the twelve-foot-tall high wheel wooden bicycle with mechanical legs; Austin Bike Zoo’s giant insect puppet bikes; and and a 30 foot Stunt Jump from Stunt Ranch. This year, Maker Faire Austin will also feature a darkened hall filled with interactive light exhibits, a fully activated Drone Fly Zone with drone racing and obstacle course, speakers, a variety of exciting fire exhibits and sword-casting with molten metal in the outdoor area, a full schedule of workshops, speakers, and performers, and much more.
